HOT HOT HOT!
My first thought when August arrives is HOT!
There was a time, pre-retirement, when August meant so much more. As a student and then an educator it meant getting ready to head back to school. Now, the “getting ready part” has shifted to late July, and many students return to school the first week of August. In the olden days when I went to school buildings were not air conditioned. We sweltered through the hot spring and fall days and now I can’t imagine being on the third floor of that old brick high school in August with no air conditioning. Ah well, enough of that olden days dalliance.
Let’s get back to being HOT. Uh-oh, one more olden days reference. There was a time this grandmother was considered pretty hot. Have you seen this meme? Yep, that was me. Hot pants, mini-skirts, gogo boots, the whole shebang. Ironically, all that was considered cool but a good looking female was hot!
Of course now, being hot has a totally different meaning. I’m not old enough to be one of those ladies who are always freezing, but I am old enough to be a lady who is always hot. My grandchildren laugh at that. My friends know my house will be cold – wear a sweater. Overnight guests know to ask for the space heater and extra blanket. My husband and I play at who can sneak and adjust the thermostat without the other knowing. Summer is my favorite season, but only if I can be in the hot sunshine and near water at the same time.
Okay, back to HOT. My first thoughts:
