It’s about that time! I know it’s been a while but what better time to recommence than the official first day of summer? The urge to write has returned. I am anxious to get back to my two works in progress- a five generation account of mothers and daughters and a n untraditional memoir. I had barely begun these when I lost my husband over a year ago, and now have a new perspective on much of the content. The thoughts have been percolating all this time and I’m ready to put them on paper, or at least in a file on the computer.
Yes, I now live in Flagler Beach, Florida. Yes, it’s hot. Yes, there are bugs. Yes, there are thunderstorms. But I still love summer! I get to enjoy it far before and after the official solstice. There’s a beach in my backyard, there’s a pool outside my door, there’s a screened porch to enjoy cool mornings and coffee, there’s a flat sidewalk to walk my Jazzy, there are nice neighbors. Sometimes there are welcome visitors from home. Georgia will always be home and I will always be GeorgiaJanet in my heart.
My life is far different than it was in all previous summers. On my own for the first time in my life, I am finding my way. Yes, it’s different. Yes, at times it’s difficult. But I keep on keeping on. My family and friends remind me I am loved, and that’s the most important thing.
